Off-site Construction

Complex healthcare facilities in rapid programmes

The off-site construction system adopted by PKL Healthcare uses pre-engineered modular units that are transported from the factory and installed on site as fitted-out and serviced building blocks.

The units are installed together to form complete modular healthcare buildings, such as temporary ward facilities and other hospital buildings.

We take off-site construction to the next level, using volumetric construction techniques to provide complex, M&E intensive healthcare facilities, such as temporary operating theatres, temporary diagnostic imaging suites and modular laboratories with all M&E installed off-site in the factory.

Benefits of off-site construction

In a sensitive medical environment off-site construction offers enormous benefits to the wellbeing of hospital patients and staff.

We minimise the time spent on your site, conducting as much as 80% of construction off-site in controlled factory conditions, meaning:

  • Greater control of your budget and programme
  • Far less disruption to your staff and patients
  • A dramatic reduction in health and safety risks

We deliver our healthcare facilities to site close to completion, eliminating the need for heavy machinery for 95% of the programme, dramatically reducing hospital noise and congestion.

Rapid off-site construction programmes

By completing on-site enabling works and off-site construction simultaneously we can deliver turnkey hospital buildings up to 60% faster than traditional site-based construction.

Using our standard designs for modular operating theatres and modular wards we can meet urgent requirements from order to handover in as little as 12 weeks. This makes our off-site construction system ideal for urgent decant and disaster recovery situations.

Contact us now to arrange an initial meeting and see how we can deliver your project faster than you may have thought possible

With up to 80% of the construction process taking place offsite there is far less disruption to your existing facilities, and the reduction in congestion, noise and dust means a dramatic improvement to staff and patients' health and safety.
